Rachel Friedman has been a full time professional pet and service dog trainer since 1999. She comes to her training via a master's level background in social work and a life long love of animals and animal behavior. With the introduction of Har-Vest™, she has become an inventor as well. Increasing her role in helping prepare dogs for service, Har-Vest™ was borne in a sudden inspirational moment back in the spring of 2004. Working with both pet and service dogs, Rachel was frustrated with the lack of equipment suitable for both form and function for the working dog. Existing service dog capes were good at identifying the dog, but the strappings and hardware were flimsy and served no other function than to keep the cape on. No-pull harnesses were becoming increasingly available and performed a terrific function of eradicating or seriously overcoming the pull of a pulling dog. Looking at putting a harness under a cape and helping clients with physical limitations in achieving both, Rachel had a sudden image of a product that could perform both functions -- preventing pulling and identifying the dog as a working animal. Over the next several months Rachel worked and reworked the design elements to pull together something that would provide form and function. She finally arrived at a product, patent pending, that pulled everything together and is attractive and high quality to boot. She is thrilled to introduce it to the market for 2005 and beyond.
